Haris Rauf Out of MLC, May Miss Bangladesh T20s

News Desk

Islamabad: Pakistan fast bowler Haris Rauf has been ruled out of the remainder of the 2025 Major League Cricket (MLC) season after sustaining a Grade 1 hamstring injury during the San Francisco Unicorns’ recent match against the Texas Super Kings.

The Unicorns confirmed his unavailability on social media, stating that New Zealand pacer Ben Lister has been named as his replacement for the rest of the tournament.

“We’re with you, Haris. The San Francisco Unicorns can confirm Haris Rauf will miss the remainder of #MLC2025 with a hamstring injury, with New Zealand pace bowler Ben Lister to replace him, effective immediately,” the franchise posted on X (formerly Twitter).

Rauf was a standout performer in the tournament, leading the wicket charts with 17 scalps in eight matches at an economy rate of 9.08.

His injury comes as a blow not only to his MLC franchise but also to the Pakistan national team, as he is now likely to miss the upcoming three-match T20I series against Bangladesh, scheduled later this month.

While the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has yet to issue an official statement regarding the 31-year-old’s injury or expected recovery timeline, his absence from the Bangladesh tour appears imminent.

The national squad is due to arrive in Bangladesh on July 16, with the T20I series set to begin on July 20 at the Shere-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur. The second and third matches will be played on July 22 and 24, respectively.

Following the Bangladesh series, Pakistan is scheduled to tour the West Indies in August for a white-ball series comprising three One-Day Internationals (ODIs) and three T20 Internationals (T20Is).
