Cairo: The Palestinian resistance group Hamas has agreed to surrender its weapons under international supervision, marking a major development in the ongoing talks with mediators in Cairo.

Hamas leaders said they had informed the United States of their decision to disarm and had received guarantees—conveyed through Qatar—of Israel’s permanent withdrawal from Gaza.

They added that the group’s weapons would be handed over to Palestinian and Egyptian authorities as part of the agreement.

According to Hamas representatives, they have also begun collecting the bodies of Israeli hostages and requested a temporary halt in Israeli airstrikes to recover the remaining bodies.

They accused Israel of obstructing President Donald Trump’s proposed peace plan through continued bombardment and destruction in Gaza.

Hamas leadership emphasized their commitment to ending the fighting, saying they would not “fall into Israel’s trap” and were ready to move forward swiftly toward peace.

Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump hailed the development, calling the Gaza agreement “excellent for Israel.”

He said a “good deal” had been reached with all parties, including Arab and Muslim leaders, and described the accord with Hamas as “remarkable.” Trump added that peace was “about to be established in the Middle East after 3,000 years.”
