Green Entrepreneurship Critical In Tackling Menace of Climate Change: Expert

Peshawar: Climate change is a harsh reality that has a negative influence on life on planet Earth. It is urgently necessary to promote the idea of “green entrepreneurship” in order to battle the threat by directing businesses’ attention toward social profit in addition to economic gains.
This observation was made by Capital University of Science and Technology (CUST) Head of Entrepreneurship Development Center (EDC) Dr Ansir Ali in a podcast organised by Institute of Urbanization (IoU)– an organization striving for making cities green.
Dr Ali stated that “green entrepreneurship” is a particular type of entrepreneurship with the goal of developing and putting into practise solutions to environmental issues as well as encouraging societal change to prevent environmental harm.
“Due to our too money-conscious approach during the past few decades, the majority of ventures continued to be geared toward profit, completely ignoring the environment, which resulted in harsh reactions from nature in the form of extreme events brought on by climatic changes,” he said.
The idea of “green entrepreneurship” is also giving our youth a tremendous opportunity to work on sustainable governance and advocate for this policy among exporters, without which business cannot be sustained in the long run, Dr Ali continued.
Consumers are becoming more aware of eco-friendly products on global markets, and those who buy things first enquire as to how much carbon dioxide was generated during production.
The EDC head underlined that in order for our exporters to continue doing business on a global scale, they needed to be educated on the need of upholding their international duties and obtaining a sustainable governance licence.
The Pakistani enterprises might be informed that by reducing carbon emissions and putting eco-friendly standards into practise, they can enjoy greater profits from better exports in addition to environment protection and community services; he continued.
The expert stressed that there is an urgent need to educate people, especially youth, about the concept and requirements of expanding green markets in the world as customers become more aware of environmental issues and more responsive to eco-friendly products.
