Govt Initiates PM Innovation Award to Foster Entrepreneurial Culture Among Youth

Islamabad: According to official sources, the Government of Pakistan has launched the ‘Prime Minister National Innovation Award 2022’, a project of the Prime Minister Youth Program, and is offering financial and technical support with the option of incubation.

All Pakistani nationals between the ages of 15 and 30 are eligible, and the application deadline is November 15, 2022.

The National Innovation Award is an opportunity for young entrepreneurs to present their innovative ideas related to 8 thematic areas with a specific focus on cco-innovation for a chance to win up to PKR 2 million.

The thematic areas comprise water management and sustainability (irrigation, water conservation, waste and water treatment), climate change and environment (climate mitigation, disaster management, metro-scale pollution reduction, climate modeling), information technology and telecom (artificial intelligence, cyber security, cloud computing, big data, disparities in access to technology, 5G, and healthcare using ICT), and sociology and philosophy (intellectual heritage, material culture, future of work and family, politics, gender, and population).

The other areas include urban planning (preservation of urban space and life, planning of second tier cities, transportation, and waste collection), innovative governance andreforms (responsiveness to citizen services, citizen scorecards) sustainable energy (electric mobility, smart energy, transmission, and grid issues) and food security (agriculture and nutrition, sustainable food eco-system).

A regional and national tournament will take place. The ideas and teams that are chosen will work with startup industry and the private sector, as well as get training and scholarships. This competition will support startup culture and create green and sustainable jobs.
