Governor, CM KP Condemn Attack on Religious Seminary

Nowshera: Chief Secretary Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Shahab Ali Shah, on Friday confirmed that Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (Sami) leader Maulana Hamidullah Haq was martyred in a suicide attack at the Haqqania religious seminary’s mosque during Friday prayers.

Speaking to the media, the Chief Secretary KP stated that the attack was targeted at Maulana Hamidullah Haq, son of former senator Maulana Samiul Haq. He was serving as the Naib Caretaker of Haqqania Seminary in Akora Khattak.

According to the spokesperson of Qazi Hussain Hospital, five bodies and 20 injured individuals were brought to the hospital. The death toll may rise as several victims remain in critical condition.

Earlier, Inspector General Police (IGP) KP, Zulfiqar Hameed, confirmed that Maulana Hamidullah Haq was the primary target of the suicide attacker.

He stated that the explosion occurred during Friday prayers at Jamia Haqqania Madrassa in Akora Khattak, resulting in the martyrdom of five worshipers and injuries to 20 others. The blast caused significant damage to the religious seminary.

DPO Nowshera, Abdur Rasheed Khan, along with Akora Khattak police, swiftly reached the scene and cordoned off the area. Rescue 1122 teams, assisted by local residents, promptly transported the injured to the hospital.

Governor KP Faisal Karim Kundi and Chief Minister KP Ali Ameen Gandapur strongly condemned the attack and expressed solidarity with the victims’ families. They directed hospital authorities to ensure the best medical care for the injured. They also extended their condolences to the bereaved families and prayed for the eternal peace of the deceased.

GovernorKP, Faisal Karim Kundi, condemned the suicide attack at Jamia Haqqania in Akora Khattak, Nowshera, expressing deep grief over the martyrdom of JUI(S) chief Maulana Hamidullah Haq Haqqani.

The Governor highlighted that the religious and political contributions of the late Maulana Hamidullah Haq Haqqani would always be remembered. He offered prayers for the departed souls and wished a speedy recovery for the injured.

Taking immediate notice of the incident, Governor Kundi sought a detailed report from senior officials. He strongly condemned the attack, terming it a conspiracy by anti-Islam and anti-Pakistan elements.

Criticizing the provincial government, Kundi questioned how long the province would continue to suffer due to governance failures. He stressed the need to rid Khyber Pakhtunkhwa of leaders who had facilitated the presence of terrorists in the province.
