Google’s Veo 3.1 Now Generates Native Vertical AI Videos
News Desk
Islamabad: Google has expanded the capabilities of its AI video-generation model with an update to Veo 3.1, allowing users to create native vertical videos tailored for short-form social media platforms.
As interest in AI-generated video content continues to grow, the latest version of Veo introduces support for a 9:16 vertical aspect ratio, eliminating the need for cropping when producing content for platforms such as YouTube Shorts, Instagram Reels, and TikTok. The feature enables users to generate vertical videos directly, making the output better suited for mobile-first audiences.
One of the key additions in Veo 3.1 is the ability to generate higher-quality vertical videos using reference images. According to Google, this allows for improved character expressions and more natural movement, even when users provide shorter or simpler text prompts.
The vertical video feature is accessible across several Google products. In addition to the Gemini app, professional users can use Veo 3.1 through Google’s Flow video editor, the Gemini API, Vertex AI, and Google Vids.
Google is also integrating the feature into YouTube Shorts and the YouTube Create app, signaling a closer connection between its AI tools and content creation platforms.
Veo 3.1 was released in October 2025 and introduced several upgrades over earlier versions, including enhanced audio output and more precise editing controls.
Google says the model now offers improved consistency across characters, objects, and backgrounds, allowing creators to blend multiple visual elements—such as textures, environments, and subjects—into a single, cohesive video.
With native vertical video support and deeper integration into YouTube’s creator ecosystem, Veo 3.1 positions itself as a powerful tool for creators looking to produce AI-generated short-form content optimized for social media.
