Islamabad: Google is set to enhance its Messages app by integrating WhatsApp video calling, allowing users to initiate calls directly without switching apps.

Key Features:

– Seamless Integration: A new video call icon in one-on-one chats will let users start a WhatsApp video call if both participants have the app installed.
– Fallback to Google Meet: If the recipient doesn’t have WhatsApp, video calls will default to Google Meet.
– Limited to Individual Chats: Group conversations will still rely on Google Meet for video calls.

The feature was discovered in an APK teardown of the latest Google Messages version and is currently in development.

While an official release date is yet to be announced, the rollout is expected in the coming weeks. Users hope Google will provide an option to choose between WhatsApp and Google Meet for video calls.

This move signals Google’s effort to improve cross-platform communication and streamline the messaging experience.
