Islamabad: Global experts are gathering in Islamabad for the one-day conference on ‘Sustainable Health Systems and Resilience: Challenges and Opportunities’, scheduled to take place on Tuesday at COMSTECH.

Dedicated to the dedicated public health workers of Pakistan, the conference is organized by the Manhattan Strategy Group, a prominent US-based think tank, in collaboration with various partner organizations.

This event will convene health experts, policymakers, and stakeholders from around the globe to explore the transformation of health systems through collaborative partnerships.

The conference will be inaugurated by Dr Malik Ahmad Bharath, the Coordinator to the Prime Minister of Pakistan on National Health Services, Regulations, and Coordination. His welcome speech will set the stage for essential discussions on the challenges and opportunities in strengthening Pakistan’s health systems.

Dr Erin Sorrell, a global health practitioner and associate professor at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, will deliver the first keynote address. This will be followed by a second keynote from Dr Hammad Ali, an Associate Branch Chief at the US CDC and Associate Professor at Brown University, and the final keynote will be given by General Aamer Ikram, former Executive Director of the NIH Pakistan.

The conference will feature five technical sessions focusing on key areas of health system transformation, including health system strengthening, universal health coverage, public-private partnerships, data integration and multi-sectoral coordination, and climate resilience in health systems.

Renowned international and national health experts will present their research and perspectives during these sessions, fostering meaningful dialogue on effective strategies to address the numerous challenges facing Pakistan’s health sector.

The conference aims to provide a platform for exchanging ideas and identifying solutions to enhance the resilience and sustainability of healthcare systems, particularly in the context of increasing global health risks intensified by climate change and pandemics.

Additionally, the conference will serve as a launch platform for the Manhattan Strategy Group in Pakistan. Known for its thought leadership in public policy and innovative solutions, the think tank aims to deepen its focus on healthcare issues in the country while fostering partnerships with government entities, NGOs, and private organizations.

Expected to attract over 150 health professionals, government officials, academic researchers, and representatives from international organizations, this conference is poised to be a pivotal event for those invested in the future of health in Pakistan and beyond.
