Islamabad: Civil society has praised the increasing number of women in the twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad who are turning to scooters as a mode of transportation due to their busy routines.

Speaking to APP, Nihea Azmat, a student at NUML, noted that both students and working women are now opting for their own bikes and scooters. Ziant, a working woman, mentioned that scooters—often painted in light colors to add a feminine touch—are gaining popularity among women for their affordability and the convenience they offer for daily commutes.

Mehwish, an employee at a private bank, observed that over recent years, many women have embraced the scooter culture, gaining greater independence on the roads. The rising demand has led to numerous companies successfully offering scooters tailored for women.

Ayub Malik, a civil society activist, highlighted that scooters are not only economical but also provide a quick means of travel for reaching educational institutions and workplaces.

In response to the growing demand, some brands have introduced scooters specifically designed for women in Pakistan. These user-friendly two-wheelers are becoming increasingly popular among college and university students.
