Girls Athletes Shine at Islamabad Girls Sports Carnival

Islamabad: The Islamabad Girls Sports Carnival, a three-day event organized by the Federal Ministry of Education and Professional Training, the Federal Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (FBISE), and the Federal Directorate of Education, entered its second day on Saturday at the Pakistan Sports Complex.

Families and fans gathered to witness a variety of sports competitions and cultural performances, adding excitement to the carnival. Federal Secretary for Education Mohyuddin Ahmad Wani expressed pride in the event, noting the joy on the faces of all the children participating.

He emphasized the importance of including sports in education and providing necessary facilities to promote healthy lifestyles.

Chairman of the Federal Board, Syed Junaid Akhlaq, encouraged the athletes to excel in both academics and sports, highlighting the potential of young female athletes to inspire future generations.

“Your dedication and hard work can showcase the incredible potential of young female athletes in Pakistan,” he said.

The carnival featured a vibrant mix of cultural, educational, and sports activities, with food and awareness stalls contributing to the festive atmosphere. Around 4,000 female athletes from across Pakistan, including Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan, competed in various sports, such as athletics, basketball, football, volleyball, and table tennis.

Parents and spectators cheered enthusiastically, with one parent, Zarina Ali, expressing pride in her daughter’s participation in the volleyball competition.

Another parent emphasized the importance of such events in building confidence and promoting healthy lifestyles for girls.

The carnival will conclude with an award ceremony to celebrate the achievements of the young athletes, encouraging more girls to take part in sports and showcase their talents.
