GB witnesses rain, snowfall across all districts

Gilgit: Gilgit-Baltistan has experienced widespread rain and snowfall across all its districts since Tuesday night, according to the Gilgit-Baltistan Disaster Management Authority (GBDMA). While weather conditions ranged from light rain to heavy snowfall, major roads remained clear, ensuring smooth transportation.

As per the GBDMA report, Gilgit, Hunza, and Nagar received light rain, while upper areas of Ghizer and Astore saw snowfall. Skardu and its surrounding regions recorded significant snowfall, with up to seven inches accumulating in higher altitudes. Shigar, Ghanche, and Kharmang also witnessed snowfall, leading to power supply disruptions in Kharmang due to a short circuit.

Despite the harsh weather, the Karakoram Highway (KKH) remained open on the Gilgit-Baltistan side, though some sections in Kohistan were blocked. Authorities are closely monitoring the situation, and efforts are underway to restore power in affected areas.
