Fresh Snowfall Disrupts Life on Both Sides of LoC in Kashmir
News Desk
Mirpur: Several upper reaches on both sides of the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir, including Neelam and Leepa valleys in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) and Srinagar, Gulmarg, Sonamarg, and Pahalgam in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJ&K), received fresh snowfall on Friday, causing significant disruptions.
Heavy snowfall in the higher reaches of IIOJ&K led to the suspension of air and road services, with flight operations at Srinagar Airport coming to a halt, according to reports received on Saturday.
On Thursday, severe snowfall forced the closure of key roads, including the Srinagar-Leh and Srinagar-Jammu highways. Traffic was blocked from both the Sonamarg and Kargil sides, and authorities are waiting for conditions to improve before resuming clearance operations.
Other high-altitude areas, such as Razdan Top, Gurez, Sadhna Top, and Mughal Road, also witnessed fresh snowfall, while the Zojila Pass, Sinthan Top, and the Amarnath Cave route were similarly affected.
Meteorological experts predict that light to moderate snowfall will continue over the next 24 hours, with weather conditions expected to improve afterward.
