Freezing temperatures outbreaks Pneumonia in Hazara Division

News Desk

Abbottabad: Following widespread downpours and heavy snowfall across the Hazara division, pneumonia is triggered by freezing temperatures in several parts of the region.

Mercury fell below zero in the upper parts of the region, especially in Galyat, Upper Mansehra, Battagram, and Kohistan, where there are pneumonia outbreaks because of the sub-zero temperatures.

In Dalbanni Khait Mansehra, a four-month-old baby boy died from pneumonia, and numerous other kids are hospitalised.

The seasonal epidemic of pneumonia, which afflicted a sizable population in the districts of Abbottabad, Mansehra, Battagram, and Kohnistan, has infected hundreds of children, according to the sources.

During the last two weeks, many children have been hospitalized in various parts of the Hazara division including Siran Valley, Galyat, Thandiani, Battahtsam, Manshera and Kaghan where in some areas more than five feet of snowfall has been recorded during that period.

Children who caught pneumonia are admitted to King Abdullah Hospital Mansehra, Ayub Teaching Hospital (ATH) and District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital Abbottabad.

The Siran Valley’s Basic Health Units (BHU) and government hospitals do not have enough facilitiess, including doctors and paramedics, to address the pneumonia outbreak that claims many children’s lives there each year.
