Fog, Smog to Engulf plain Areas of Punjab, KP, Upper Sindh: PMD

Islamabad: The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) forecasts that fog will blanket the plains of Punjab, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, and Sindh during morning and night hours over the next 24 hours.
Cold and dry weather is anticipated in regions including Punjab, Sindh, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan, Kashmir, and Gilgit Baltistan.
The synoptic situation indicates the prevalence of continental air across most parts of the country. Additionally, a shallow westerly wave is present over northwest Balochistan. Over the past 24 hours, the prevailing conditions have been characterised by cold and dry weather throughout most areas.
Among the lowest minimum temperatures recorded during this period were Leh at -09°C, Skardu at -07°C, Gilgit and Astore at -04°C, Kalat at -04°C, Kalam, Pulwama, and Baramulla at -03°C, and Gupis and Anantnag at -02°C.
