Floodwaters advancing towards Baloki, threatening Sheikhupura, Nankana, Sahiwal
News Desk
Islamabad: The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has warned that water levels at Baloki are expected to rise within the next 18 hours as floodwaters continue to flow downstream in the River Ravi.
PDMA Director General Irfan Ali Kathia said the surge is likely to affect Sheikhupura, Nankana Sahib, and Sahiwal districts, adding that the floodwater will reach Sadhrai in nearly 20 hours.
He noted that the situation has worsened due to India’s continuous release of water from the Thien Dam and Madhopur headworks. “A major flood surge has already crossed Ravi and is now heading towards Baloki,” the PDMA chief cautioned.
