Khanewal: The district administration has initiated legal action against five individuals for breaching the Child Labour Act during a widespread crackdown conducted across the district on Tuesday.

The local authorities launched a targeted operation against brick kilns and factories found to be violating child labour regulations.

As a result of these efforts, FIRs were filed against a brick kiln proprietor and four factory proprietors for their infractions. Additionally, fines were imposed on 29 production units, and challans were submitted to the courts for further legal proceedings.

During a meeting, DC Wasim Hamid Sandhu urged relevant officials to expedite the process of issuing vehicles through the Social Security Department.

He emphasized the importance of ensuring that brick kiln owners fulfill their obligation to pay workers’ wages.

Sandhu reiterated the administration’s steadfast commitment to a zero-tolerance policy against child labour and cautioned that stringent legal measures would be taken against any violations.
