Five Brick Kilns Demolished, 5 Sealed for Smog Prevention

Multan: The district administration on Monday demolished five brick kilns and sealed five more for violating the zigzag technology rule, aimed at preventing smog.
A video shared with the media showed a crane demolishing a brick kiln furnace. Deputy Commissioner Waseem Hamid Sindhu stated that in addition to sealing the kilns, their furnaces were filled with water.
Two individuals were arrested during the operation. Sindhu added that all brick kiln operators have been given an ultimatum to switch to zigzag technology or face legal action.
996 Smoke-Emitting Vehicles Fined in Faisalabad
As many as 996 smoke-emitting vehicles were fined in the last month and a half in Faisalabad. Deputy Director Environment Johar Abbas reported that 3,596 vehicles were inspected, and drivers of 996 vehicles were fined a total of Rs. 1.9 million.
In addition, 33 industries were sealed, and cases were registered against 19 owners for violating pollution control measures, with fines amounting to Rs. 7.4 million.
Abbas stated that 311 brick kilns were inspected, with six kilns demolished for non-compliance with zigzag technology and one owner facing legal action. Notices were also served to 174 brick kiln operators.
