Five Arrested in APP Fake Appointments Case

Islamabad: Five individuals accused of involvement in the Associated Press of Pakistan (APP) fake appointments case were arrested Monday following the dismissal of their interim bail petitions by Special Judge FIA Court Hamayoun Dilawar.

The accused include former Manager Accounts Arshad Majeed, his son Taimoor Arshad, Saad Yousaf, Qaiser Javed, and Fawad Khan.

The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) initiated the case, alleging the accused facilitated fraudulent appointments at APP.

Investigation Officer Ehtesham Gondal opposed the pre-arrest bail requests, asserting that substantial evidence had been gathered to support the charges.

Representing APP, lawyer Hussnain Haider Thaheem stated that Arshad Majeed played a key role in enabling salaries for 20 individuals appointed without legitimate documentation.

Thaheem also requested the inclusion of former Assistant Accounts Manager Moazzam Javed Khokhar and former Manager HR Khawaja Asif in the FIR, citing their alleged involvement.

The FIA claims the fraudulent appointments caused significant financial losses to APP and undermined its recruitment transparency.

Earlier investigations revealed misuse of authority, including fake signatures of senior officials, to facilitate illegal appointments.

The court’s decision marks a critical step in the ongoing investigation, with further hearings expected to focus on the evidence presented by the FIA.
