Fiscal Budget 2022-23: Rs 3.5 b to be spent on women’s empowerment

PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government allocated Rs 3.5 billion in the fiscal budget 2022-23 for women empowerment, especially in the merged districts.
Finance Minister Taimur Salim Jhagra while presenting the budget said that under the program, skilled development centers would be set up in the merged areas for females while vocational centers would be established in Swat, Abbottabad and DI Khan.
He said that women crisis centres would be set up in Peshawar in order to facilitate them and address their grievances. Giving details of the budget allocation, he said that Rs 2.4 billion had been allocated for women’s share in SMEs, Bank of Khyber, SAAF and RAAST financing schemes.
He said that Rs 54 million had been allocated for providing indoor game facilities for women at all divisional headquarters, and Rs 340 million allocated for women’s universities.
Jhagra said that the current budget for women’s welfare was Rs 100 million, adding that Rs 50.5 million had been allocated for women’s vocational centers and Rs 50 million for women’s protection.
