First Practical Use of Iran’s Long-Range Sajil Missile
News Desk
Tehran: Iran has launched the 54th wave of Operation Promised Truth against Israel, marking the first practical use of its powerful Sajil Strategic Ballistic Missile, according to the Iranian Revolutionary Guards.
The wave, named “Yazhara”, targeted Israeli command and control centers and key military installations in response to recent US and Israeli actions.
The Sajil missile, a solid-fuel ballistic missile, is capable of striking long-range targets with a reported range of 2,000 to 2,500 kilometers (1,240 to 1,550 miles) and a speed exceeding Mach 13, or 13 times the speed of sound.

Its solid-fuel design allows for rapid launch, giving Iran a strategic edge in missile operations.
Al Jazeera reports that the term “Sajil” means “stone” and references an event described in Surah Al-Fil of the Quran, where stones destroyed an invading enemy, symbolizing Iran’s framing of the missile as a powerful deterrent.
According to The National Interest, the missile’s range allows it to reach targets as far as Egypt, parts of Sudan, most of Ukraine, southern Russia, western China, India, and broad areas of the Indian Ocean and Mediterranean Sea.
Iran’s latest missile deployment signals an escalation in the ongoing regional tensions and demonstrates its advancing military capabilities in response to perceived aggression from Israel and the United States.
