First Clash: KP CM Pushes for Change in Chief Secretary
News Desk
Peshawar: The first conflict between the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa government and the federal government has arisen as the Chief Minister of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa has requested the federal government to replace the current Chief Secretary and appoint PAS BS-21 officer Shahab Ali Shah as the Chief Secretary.
Contrary to past traditions, Ali Amin sent only one name instead of sending a panel of three names, although it is the Prime Minister’s prerogative to appoint one of the three officers as Chief Secretary.
The Chief Minister’s Secretariat in Peshawar has sent a letter to the federal government expressing this concern.
The letter issued by the Principal Secretary PS/P5CM/CMS/KPK/2024 Peshawar 09′ states that I am pleased to inform that Chief Minister Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa has expressed his desire that the present Chief Secretary of KP, Grade 21 Officer Nadeem Aslam Chaudhry, should have his services withdrawn from Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa as soon as possible.
According to the letter, Grade 21 Officer Shahab Ali Shah, currently serving under the authority of the Balochistan government, is to be appointed as Chief Secretary in the best interest of the province.
Nadeem Chaudhry was appointed during the caretaker government, while Shahab Ali Shah has held various positions, including Additional Chief Secretary, in the PTI government.
