Fear Of Earthquake: A Teenage Girl Lost Life In Narayan Valley

Abbottabad: A teenage girl died of cardiac arrest in Narayan Valley on Tuesday night due to the fear caused by the magnitude 6.8 earthquake.
According to the details, panic erupted in Abbottabad as a result of the earthquake’s shocks. After the first wave of shock, residents came out of their houses. The deceased has been identified as Waheed Kulsoom alias Soumi, daughter of a martyred policeman.
Rescue 1122 shifted the girl to the hospital where doctors confirmed that she had passed away from heart failure brought on by her seismic fright.
In a separate incident, a man and a woman were shifted unconscious from Khola Kehal Abbottabad to the DHQ in Abbottabad due to the earthquake fear.
In other districts of the Hazara division, including Haripur, Mansehra, Battagram, and Torghar, no causality was reported. However, some houses were damaged in Upper and Lower Kohistan and Kolai Palis.
Meanwhile, at least nine people, including two children, were killed and 46 others sustained injuries in the earthquake that took place in different areas of KP on Tuesday.
Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) spokesman said on Wednesday that two people, including a 10-year-old girl, died in Madayn Swat, three in Bajaur, two in Lower Dir, and one in Abbottabad as a result of wall and roof collapses caused by the powerful earthquake that jolted KP and other parts of the country on Tuesday night.
Five men, two women, and two children are among the deceased in KP. Moreover, at least 19 houses were also partially damaged.
PDMA Director General Sharif Hussain visited the Emergency Operation Centre and gave the authorities instructions to speed up relief efforts in the impacted areas.
Sharif Hussain also gave instructions to Rescue 1122 to immediately begin treating the injured people and transporting them to nearby hospitals. He argued that all tools and resources ought to be put to use in relief efforts.
The secretary also directed the district administration, Rescue 1122 and Civil Defence to remain on high alert.
The PDMA was in constant touch with the district administrations and concerned institutions in all the districts and all resources were mobilised to provide quick relief to the earthquake victims. DG stated that the situation is being continuously monitored, advising the citizens to report any untoward incident at helplines 1,700 or 1,122.
PDMA is a Provincial Government organization, which deals with natural or man-made disasters in KP province. Its mandate is to engage in activities concerning to all four stages of Disaster Management Spectrum.
As a sequel to the devastating earthquake of 8 October 2005, the National Disaster Management Ordinance was promulgated with a view to establish and regulate an enhanced and progressive Disaster Management Framework at the National, Provincial and Local level for disaster mitigation, preparedness and response.
