FAPUASA Urges Immediate Appointment of VCs in KP Universities
News Desk
Islamabad: The Federation of All Pakistan Universities Academic Staff Association (FAPUASA) has expressed serious concern over the prolonged delay in the appointment of Vice Chancellors (VCs) in 24 universities across Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa over the past 18 months.
This delay exacerbates the already significant financial challenges facing these universities, stats a press release issued by FAPUASA on Thursday.
Despite the advertisement for VC positions in 2022 and two rounds of interviews conducted during the previous government’s tenure, judicial interference thwarted these efforts, resulting in unsuccessful interviews.
Recognizing the pressing administrative issues in the province’s universities, the caretaker KP government has assumed responsibility for conducting interviews for VCs in Islamabad.
A high-level, transparent background committee meticulously selected three candidates for each university based on merit, maintaining strict confidentiality to ensure transparency.
However, to our dismay, no Vice Chancellor (VC) has been appointed for Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa universities to date.
FAPUASA calls upon the newly formed KP government to expedite the appointment of VCs urgently.
It is imperative that these appointments be made promptly to prevent further deterioration at our universities. FAPUASA remains hopeful that the new government will prioritize higher education and extend special attention to universities grappling with numerous challenges.
It is crucial that the government takes swift action to address the pressing issues facing our higher education institutions, ensuring their stability and growth.
