FAPUASA Condemns HEC Directive, Calls for Immediate Withdrawal

News Desk
Islamabad: The Federation of All Pakistan Universities Academic Staff Association (FAPUASA) strongly condemns the recent directive issued by the Higher Education Commission (HEC), which mandates the cancellation of all faculty advertisements older than a year.
This arbitrary decision has sparked widespread outrage among faculty members nationwide.
The directive lacks logical justification and fails to acknowledge the challenges faced by universities and faculty members.
FAPUASA firmly rejects this decision, which will negatively impact many faculty members awaiting higher-grade promotions for extended periods.
Moreover, this directive represents an unwarranted intrusion into the autonomy of universities.
It is important to note that the delay in convening selection boards is not due to faculty negligence but rather the incompetence of certain vice chancellors who obstruct academic processes.
Additionally, government-imposed bans on promotion appointments have worsened the situation, leaving faculty members in a state of uncertainty.
FAPUASA demands the immediate withdrawal of this directive by the Chairman of HEC.
Failure to do so will compel us to organize nationwide protests in universities across Pakistan.
The future of numerous faculty members is at stake, and it is imperative that HEC takes prompt corrective action to protect their interests.
We call upon the Chairman of HEC to prioritize the welfare of faculty members and academia by rescinding this unjust directive, said FAPUASA General Secretary Dr Akhtiar Ghumro.
FAPUASA remains steadfast in advocating for the rights and interests of faculty members and will not hesitate to take further action to ensure their well-being and protection, he said.
