Fan Outrage as Pakistan Women Crumble Against India
News Desk
Colombo: Another heartbreak unfolded for Pakistani cricket fans on Sunday as the national women’s team suffered their second consecutive defeat at the ongoing Women’s World Cup 2025, losing to arch-rivals India by 88 runs in Colombo.
After opting to bowl first, Pakistan’s bowlers showed early discipline, restricting India to 247 all out — a milestone achievement, as it was the first time Pakistan had dismissed India in a Women’s ODI. But the momentary joy was short-lived.
Pakistan’s batting faltered yet again under pressure. Chasing 248, the team managed only 159 runs in 43 overs, collapsing in familiar fashion as fans watched in frustration.

The loss, particularly against India, sparked an outpouring of anger and disappointment on social media, where fans drew sharp comparisons with the men’s team’s struggles in high-stakes encounters.
“This team is worse than the men’s side,” one disheartened fan wrote. Another user mocked both teams, commenting, “Pakistan women’s team can only win against one side in this wide world — and that’s Pakistan men’s team.”
Critics also took aim at the team’s sluggish batting approach, questioning their intent in the chase. “Pakistan women are playing a better Test than the men’s team,” another fan quipped, highlighting the slow strike rate.
While the bowlers managed to keep India within reach, the lack of consistency with the bat remains Pakistan’s biggest concern as they struggle to find form in the tournament.
The Green Shirts will need a quick turnaround to keep their World Cup campaign alive — and to regain the faith of their increasingly frustrated supporters.
