Fake Cops Arrested in ‘Kidnapping’ Case, Hostage Rescued

Islamabad: Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Police on Saturday apprehended three suspects for impersonating police officers and rescued a kidnapped citizen during a swift and well-coordinated operation in the Bani Gala area.
According to an ICT police official, the suspects—identified as Khalid Mahmood, Muhammad Zafar, and Jameel Ahmad—allegedly abducted a citizen while posing as law enforcement personnel.
During the operation, police recovered a snatched vehicle, police uniforms, handcuffs, face masks, a wireless communication set, weapons, ammunition, and the car used in the abduction.
The prompt and effective response by the police team was commended by Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police, Muhammad Jawad Tariq.
DIG Tariq said that further investigation is underway, adding, “Those who attack the safety and dignity of our citizens will be dealt with an iron hand. Stern action will be taken against anyone threatening the lives and property of citizens.”
