Faiza Hassan Discusses Ageism Among Actors
News Desk
Islamabad: Faiza Hassan, an experienced actress, recently discussed the insecurities faced by male actors in their 50s, particularly when it comes to working with women of the same age. Speaking on a morning show, she highlighted a “deep-rooted issue” in the media industry, where male actors often feel “threatened” by their female colleagues.
The Aapa Shamim star shared, “Actors over 50 tend to avoid working with us. They feel insecure, believing that by working with younger actresses, they can appear more youthful.”
Faiza elaborated on how these male actors not only prefer collaborating with younger women to maintain their image but also fear being overshadowed by female counterparts of their own age. “Many actors feel that we, as middle-aged women, might outshine them,” she added.
Actress Javeria Saud also joined the conversation, revealing that the wives of these middle-aged actors often contribute to this dynamic.
“They’ve confided in me that they prefer seeing their husbands paired with younger women on screen,” Javeria Saud shared, shedding light on the pressures that actors face both personally and professionally.
