Experts Reveal 70% Pakistanis Use Unnecessary Antibiotic

Islamabad: Health experts at the Antimicrobial Stewardship conference in Karachi highlighted that approximately 70 percent of antibiotics are used unnecessarily in Pakistan.
The conference, supported by the National Institute for Health Services Academy, emphasized the global health crisis posed by antimicrobial resistance.
Experts noted that around 5 million people worldwide died from complications related to antimicrobial resistance.
They stressed the urgent need to control the indiscriminate use of antibiotic drugs, stating that antimicrobial resistance was the third leading cause of death in Pakistan in 2019.
