Exam Leak: Cambridge offers Free Retakes for Affected Students
News Desk
Islamabad: Cambridge International appeared before a National Assembly subcommittee on Monday to address the recent leak of three exam papers during the June 2025 series in Pakistan. The session saw Cambridge officials present the findings of their internal investigation and outline corrective measures taken in response.
According to official sources, the subcommittee reviewed the inquiry report and termed the proposed actions “satisfactory.” However, members strongly urged Cambridge to offer a free retake opportunity to all affected students during the upcoming October/November 2025 exam session to mitigate any academic disadvantage.
“All possible steps must be taken to protect students’ academic futures,” the subcommittee stated, while also pressing for tighter security measures to prevent future breaches.
Cambridge Reaffirms Support for Pakistani Students
Speaking during the session, Uzma Yousaf, Head of Cambridge Pakistan, reaffirmed the organization’s commitment to ensuring fair and transparent assessments. “We have over 100 years of experience in fair grading and delivering exams. Our goal is to ensure that Pakistani students continue to benefit from internationally recognized, high-quality education,” she said.
Yousaf emphasized that Cambridge’s exam fees in Pakistan are the lowest globally. She noted that the June 2025 session included 378,000 exam entries from 800 Cambridge-affiliated schools across the country, with 44,000 AS and A Level entries alone.
“Cambridge works with 10,000 schools in 160 countries where quality education remains a top priority,” she added.
Parliamentary Body Welcomes Transparency
Committee members welcomed Cambridge’s decision to exclude marks from the compromised questions in final grading, calling it a move in the students’ best interest. They also appreciated the organization’s transparency during the briefing.
The subcommittee reiterated the need for stronger monitoring and security protocols to preserve the integrity of future assessments.
Cambridge concluded by reaffirming its global commitment to fair and secure examinations and pledged continued support for students and education partners in Pakistan.
