Endangered Frog Fights for Survival Against Encroachment

News Desk

Islamabad: The world’s largest and most powerful frog, measuring 13 inches from its nose or mouth to its back and weighing about 3.25 kg, is teetering on the brink of extinction.

Over the past three generations, populations of this colossal species have plummeted by 50 percent, primarily due to human activities.

This remarkable frog, native to the African countries of Cameroon and Equatorial Guinea, faces the imminent threat of habitat destruction driven by human encroachment.

Its secluded environment, crucial for its survival, is rapidly diminishing as human populations expand and human activities encroach upon its territory.

Experts emphasize that this formidable creature is inherently wary of human presence, often striving to maintain distance.

However, the relentless expansion of human activities is disrupting its tranquil habitat, resulting in a significant decline in its population.

Alarmingly, experts warn that without immediate intervention, this awe-inspiring creature faces the grim prospect of extinction.

Urgent measures are imperative to mitigate the threats posed by human activities and safeguard the survival of this iconic species.
