End Of Monsoon: PMD Forecasts Rain, Snowfall

Islamabad: The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) announced the official exit of monsoon season in Pakistan with another rain spell accompanied by snowfall in hilly areas from Thursday to Saturday indicates the transition from the summer to winter season.
The predicted rain spell in the parts of Islamabad, Punjab, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan will cause the temperature to drop even further, forcing locals to break out their wool coats as winter approaches.
A westerly wave is likely to enter upper parts on Thursday (evening or night) from September 28-30, bringing rain-wind/thunderstorm (moderate to isolated heavy falls) to be expected in Chitral, Dir, Swat, Shangla, Buner, Mansehra, Kohistan, Abbottabad, Kashmir (Neelum Valley, Muzaffarabad, Poonch, Hattian, Bagh, Haveli, Sudhanoti, Kotli, Bhimber, Mirpur), and Gilgit Baltistan (Diamir, Astore, Ghizer, Skardu, Hunza, Gilgit, Ghanche, Shigar).
Snowfall is also projected over the high mountains in upper KP, Kashmir and GB during the period.
Rain-wind/thunderstorm with hailstorm at isolated places is also predicted on September 28 (night) and 29 in Kohat, Peshawar, Mardan, Swabi, Nowshera, Haripur, Kurram, Waziristan, Bannu, Dera Ismail Khan, Murree, Galliyat, Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Mianwali, Sargodha, Khushab, Faisalabad, Toba Tek Singh, Jhang, Mandi Bahauddin, Hafizabad, Gujranwala, Gujrat, Sialkot, Narowal, Lahore, Kasur and Sheikhupura.
Rain-dust thunderstorms are also likely in Zhob, Barkhan, Layyah, Bhakkar, Dera Ghazi Khan, Okara, Pakpattan, Sahiwal, Multan, Bahawalpur, and Bahawalnagar during the period.
Temperatures are likely to drop significantly during and after the rain spell.
Regarding the impact of the rain, the PMD has warned that wind thunderstorms may damage loose structures like electric poles, solar panels, billboards, etc.
Farmers are instructed to manage their crop activities appropriately. Travelers and tourists are recommended to remain cautious to stay safe throughout the time.
Staying in secure locations during windstorms, lightning and moderate to heavy rainfall is advised for the general population. All relevant authorities have been urged to exercise caution during the projected period by the PMD.
