Elon Musk’s X Platform to Restrict Live Streaming to Premium Subscribers

News Desk

Islamabad: Elon Musk, the owner of the social media platform X, will soon restrict live streaming to premium subscribers only, as reported by Deadline.

A statement from the verified @Live account on X announced Musk’s latest decision: “Starting soon, only Premium subscribers will have the ability to livestream (create live video streams) on X. This includes using an encoder with X integration. Upgrade to Premium to continue live streaming.”

The announcement did not specify when these changes will be implemented.

This move by the tech entrepreneur is part of his company’s efforts to boost revenue. Earlier this year, Musk, aged 52, proposed charging a “small fee” to allow new users to post on X immediately after signing up, aimed at reducing spam and bot activity.

According to Deadline, X offers three subscription tiers: Basic, Premium, and Premium+.

The Basic tier provides features such as post editing, longer posts and videos, priority replies, text formatting, bookmark folders, custom app icons, and more.

The Premium tier includes all Basic features, as well as a verified blue check mark, reduced advertisements, creator subscriptions, participation in ad revenue sharing, and additional perks.

Premium+ subscribers enjoy all features from the other tiers, with the added benefits of ad-free experiences in “For You” and “Following” tabs, enhanced reply visibility, and the ability to write articles.
