Washington: As the race for the White House intensifies, former President Donald Trump holds a significant lead over Democratic Vice President Kamala Harris in the US presidential election, with results still trickling in.
By early Wednesday morning, US media projections show Trump winning 24 states, including major battlegrounds like Texas, Ohio, Georgia, and North Carolina, as well as other traditionally Republican states.
Harris, on the other hand, has secured victories in 15 states, with key wins in California, New York, and Washington D.C., giving her a total of 194 electoral votes.
Trump has so far garnered 243 electoral votes, closing in on the magic number of 270 needed to claim victory.
The highly anticipated contest remains too close to call, with many crucial states still too early to project, setting the stage for a dramatic finish. The race is expected to hinge on a few pivotal battlegrounds, which could ultimately decide the fate of the election.
