Abbottabad: The Election Tribunal in Abbottabad upheld the decision to dismiss Azam Khan Swati’s nomination papers, a prominent Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader and former federal minister, for the National Assembly seat NA-15 in Mansehra.

Despite Azam Swati challenging the initial rejection of his candidature by the Returning Officer, the Tribunal’s decision echoed the earlier ruling against his eligibility.

The appeal, heard by Justice Kamran Hayat Miankhel in the Peshawar High Court (PHC) Abbottabad Bench, affirmed the returning officer’s stance, leading to the rejection of Azam Swati’s appeal.

While the specific reasons behind his disqualification during the scrutiny of nomination papers were not immediately disclosed, this Election Tribunal decision officially terminates Azam Swati’s hopes of contesting the upcoming National Assembly elections from NA-15. The ruling solidifies the authority and validity of the returning officer’s initial judgement on this matter.
