Eight Years Later: The Continued Legacy of Junaid Jamshed

Islamabad: Thousands of fans are remembering iconic singer-turned-televangelist Junaid Jamshed on the eighth anniversary of his passing, which falls on Saturday.
Jamshed, celebrated for hits like “Aitebar”, “Naraz Ho”, “Tera Karam Maula”, and “Tumhara Aur Mera Naam”, left an indelible impact on both the music industry and spiritual devotion.
Born on September 3, 1964, in Karachi, Junaid began his musical journey in his student years. He rose to fame in 1987 with the formation of Vital Signs, releasing the patriotic anthem “Dil Dil Pakistan”, which remains a beloved national favorite.
At the height of his career, Junaid experienced a profound transformation. In 2004, he left the music industry to devote himself to spreading Islamic teachings and performing naats. His soulful renditions, such as “Dil Badal De”, earned him admiration in his new role as a spiritual guide.
Tragically, Junaid Jamshed passed away in a plane crash near Havelian on December 7, 2016, while returning from a preaching mission. His son, Babar Junaid, has often spoken of his father’s deep faith and determination to inspire others.
In recognition of his contributions to both music and spirituality, the Pakistani government awarded Junaid the Tamgha-e-Imtiaz in 2007.
