Eight Men Hacked to Death in Sheikhupura

Sheikhupura: At least eight persons were hacked to death with an axe as they slept on Saturday.

Police sources said a mentally challenged man armed with an axe and an iron rod killed the victims as they slept in Hechidar village, a suburb of Sheikhupura.

The alleged murderer, identified as Faiz Rasool, has been taken into custody and appears to suffer from mental health issues.

The murders reportedly took place around 3am, after which the police were informed and reached the crime site, taking control of the area to collect evidence.

Following the incident, Punjab Chief Minister Pervaiz Elahi took notice of the incident and called for a report. The chief minister also ensured the families of the victims that justice will be served.

IG Punjab has also ordered a through probe into the case, seeking a report of the RPO Sheikhupura.
