Islamabad: Pakistani athletes have continued their impressive medal-winning streak at the 12th Special Olympics World Winter Games in Turin, Italy, showcasing exceptional talent in snowshoeing and cross-country skiing events.

In the 100-meter snowshoeing race, Afaq Khan clinched a gold medal for Pakistan, securing a dominant victory. Ahmed Al-Jilani from the United Arab Emirates took the silver, while Mongolia’s Amarbold Munkhdul won the bronze.

Pakistan also excelled in the team events. In the men’s 4×100-meter snowshoeing relay race, the Canadian team bagged the gold, while Pakistan’s Moazzam Iqbal, Abdul Saboor, Muhammad Afaq, and Ali Raza earned a well-fought silver medal. China finished in third place.

Similarly, in the women’s 4×100-meter relay, Canada again claimed gold, while Pakistan’s Iqra Akram, Tabassum Nasir, Shah Guloon, and Manahil secured the silver medal, with Chinese Taipei taking the bronze.

So far in the Special Olympics World Winter Games, Pakistan’s athletes have amassed an impressive tally of eight medals—three gold, three silver, and two bronze—across cross-country skiing and snowshoeing events.

As the competition nears its conclusion, Pakistani athletes are set for their final challenge in the 400-meter race. Moazzam Iqbal, Saboor Ahmed, and Ali Raza will compete in the men’s category, while Iqra Akram and Manahil will represent Pakistan in the women’s race, aiming to add to the country’s medal haul.
