Eight killed, several injured in separate accidents in Punjab

Islamabad: At least eight people, including four women and a child, lost their lives while several others sustained serious injuries in two separate road accidents in Punjab on Saturday.
In the first incident, three people — two women and a one-year-old boy — were killed, and several others injured when a Hyundai loader rammed into a vegetable-laden Mazda truck in Toba Tek Singh.
Rescue sources said around 14 people were onboard the Hyundai loader, traveling from Multan to Data Darbar in Lahore, when the collision occurred. The deceased were identified as 35-year-old Samina, 55-year-old Shamim, and one-year-old Shafiq. Those injured included Faizan, Jameel, Aurangzeb, Reshma, Asma, and Umm-e-Habiba, among others.

In another tragic crash near Qila Deewan Singh on Hafizabad Road in Gujranwala, five people, including two women, died on the spot when a truck collided head-on with a pickup.
The victims were identified as 55-year-old Nasreen, 45-year-old Rukhsana, 13-year-old Azan, 60-year-old Amjad Pervaiz, and 25-year-old Jibran. Four others — Anjum, Amina, Majeedan Bibi, and Shabnam — suffered critical injuries.
Rescue 1122 and local police teams reached both accident sites, shifting the deceased and injured to nearby hospitals for medical assistance. Authorities have launched investigations to determine the causes of both accidents.
