Effective Security Measures Needed For Non-Muslims

Peshawar: Human rights activist has demanded effective security measures to prevent the targeted killing of minority members in Peshawar.

These include strict implementation of the National Action Plan (NAP) formulated for the eradication of terrorism and anti-state elements and consultation of minority members with security forces in chalking out measures for curbing terrorism incidents.

Minority Rights Activist Haroon Sarab Diyal said the recent killings of a Sikh trader and a Christian in Peshawar have caused a wave of shock and insecurity among members of the minority community while expressing concern over the murder of Dayal Singh on Saturday.

According to Sarab Diyal, many members of minority groups work in a variety of public and private departments, particularly in the suburban areas of cities, and thus require strict security measures.

In order to lessen the risk of targeted violence against minorities, he also asked that minority employees who worked in Peshawar’s interior city or cantonment districts be transferred to safe areas.

Activist Haroon stated that representation of the minority group in discussions about security measures might significantly reduce events of a subversive nature.

Meanwhile, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) (Operations) Haroon Rasheed said that Dayal Singh’s murder is being investigated and suspects would be arrested shortly.

Speaking to journalists in his office, the SSP informed them that two assailants killed Dayal Singh with a 30-bore pistol after entering Dir Colony via the Ring Road on a motorcycle.

After the incident, both riders fled the scene through Bilal Colony, which is adjacent to Garhi Ata Mohammad near Dir Colony. The deceased Dayal Singh was shot twice, once in the head and once in the chest, according to Haroon.

According to SSP, investigation teams are working tirelessly to apprehend the murderers.
