Durefishan Saleem Breaks Silence on Secret Marriage Buzz

Islamabad: Acclaimed television actress Durefishan Saleem has firmly denied rumours suggesting she secretly married fellow actor Bilal Abbas Khan, labelling the claims as entirely baseless and criticising the rise of unverified reporting in Pakistan’s entertainment industry.

Speaking out for the first time in a recent interview, Durefishan addressed the viral speculation, saying, “These rumours have no truth to them. If something like this had actually happened, there would have been pictures by now.”

The Ishq Murshid star clarified that while she shares a friendly and professional bond with Bilal Abbas Khan, there is no truth to the claims of a hidden relationship. “We had a great working relationship on set. We used to laugh a lot—we both enjoy the little things in life,” she explained, emphasising that their chemistry existed solely on screen.

The rumours began circulating last year after a YouTuber alleged the two had secretly tied the knot and were intentionally keeping it under wraps. Their on-screen pairing in Ishq Murshid and joint appearances during its promotions only added fuel to the fire.

Without naming anyone, Durefishan criticised the growing trend of media outlets and content creators publishing unverified information about celebrities’ personal lives. “Marriage is a deeply personal matter, but if something that significant had actually occurred, people would have known. No one hides such important milestones,” she said.

She also expressed concern about the direction of local entertainment journalism, noting, “Sadly, our media is starting to resemble certain aspects of Indian-style journalism, where rumours are often reported without fact-checking.”

Reflecting on her career, Durefishan said she’s grateful for the recognition she has received in just five years of working in the television industry. “It’s not a long time, but I feel incredibly fortunate for all the appreciation. Sometimes, it even feels overwhelming,” she shared, adding that the audience’s support plays a major role in the kinds of projects she chooses moving forward.
