Air Pollution Persists in Lahore
Air pollution continued to grip Lahore on Monday, placing the city third among Pakistan’s most polluted areas with an average Air Quality Index (AQI) of 181, according to IQAir data.
The AQI level was classified as “unhealthy”, with PM2.5 concentrations measuring 19.6 times higher than the World Health Organization’s (WHO) annual guideline.
Some of the most affected localities included DHA, Barki Road, FC College, Ravi Road, Allama Iqbal Town, Johar Town, PIA Road, and Multan Road.
Environmental experts warned that the worsening air quality poses serious health risks to residents, particularly children, the elderly, and those with respiratory issues. They advised citizens to limit outdoor activities, wear protective masks, and avoid early morning exercise to reduce exposure to hazardous pollutants.
