Lahore: Partly cloudy and dry weather conditions prevailed in Lahore on Saturday, with the Pakistan Meteorological Department forecasting similar conditions over the next 24 hours.

According to the Met Office, continental air is dominating most parts of the country, resulting in largely dry weather nationwide. Daytime temperatures are expected to remain above normal in several regions, while northern areas may experience cold conditions during the night and early morning hours.

In Lahore, the minimum temperature was recorded at 17–18 degrees Celsius, with humidity measured at 54 percent. Winds were blowing at a speed of 5 kilometres per hour, expected to increase to around 8 kilometres per hour later in the day. The department has ruled out any possibility of rain in the city, indicating that dry weather will persist.

Elsewhere in the country, the lowest temperature was recorded in Leh, where the mercury dropped to minus 7 degrees Celsius.

Meanwhile, in Karachi, the Met Office predicted dry weather across most districts of Sindh over the next 24 hours. Daytime temperatures in the province are likely to increase gradually, with gusty winds expected during the afternoon.

Despite relatively clearer skies in Lahore, air quality remains a concern. The city recorded an average Air Quality Index (AQI) of 154, placing it in the “unhealthy” category. Environmental data showed that PM2.5 levels were nearly 11.9 times higher than the annual guideline value set by the World Health Organization.

Health experts warn that such pollution levels may particularly affect children, the elderly, and individuals with respiratory or heart conditions, potentially causing breathing difficulties, throat irritation and fatigue.
