Bannu: A planned drone attack on a police station in Bannu’s Miryan area was foiled during a security operation, with the terrorists’ own quadcopter crashing into their group, resulting in multiple casualties, officials said on Sunday.

According to Regional Police Officer (RPO) Bannu, Sajjad Khan, the anti-terror operation was launched following credible intelligence reports about the presence of militants in the area.

Security forces, using armored vehicles, thermal imaging weapons, and advanced surveillance tools, carried out the operation. Anti-drone technology was also deployed as part of the counterterrorism measures.

During the operation, a drone launched by the terrorists targeting the Miryan police station malfunctioned and crashed into their own location, reportedly killing and injuring several of them.

RPO Sajjad Khan confirmed that the swift response and use of modern equipment helped thwart the attack and minimize potential damage.

Security operations in the region are ongoing, with heightened vigilance against emerging threats, including the use of drones by militant groups.
