Diwali Celebrations Illuminate Hindu Community’s Crucial Role

Karachi/Lahore: Leaders of Pakistan’s major political parties extended heartfelt congratulations to the Hindu community on the occasion of the Diwali Festival, acknowledging and commending the significant contributions made by the Hindu community to the development of the country.
“It is a matter of pride for me that under my leadership, the PPP not only nominated ‘Jiyalas’ from the minority community as its candidates for the general seats of the assemblies but also ensured their success with an overwhelming majority,” former President Asif Ali Zardari stated in his congratulatory message to the Hindu community of Pakistan on the occasion of the Diwali Festival.

The former President and Chairman of PPP Bilawal Bhutto Zardari extended their heartiest greetings to Pakistan’s Hindu community on ‘Diwali’, the festival of lights, and expressed their best wishes for them.
They, in their separate messages on the occasion of Diwali, said that this festival was a symbol of light and joy as well as a message of victory of light over darkness and good over evil.
They emphasized that the PPP is dedicated to promoting interfaith tolerance, harmony, and fostering brotherhood and unity. The Constitution of 1973, championed by former Prime Minister Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, stands as a testament to the party’s commitment to ensuring equal rights for minorities in Pakistan.
He said Benazir Bhutto (late) fought throughout her life for the protection and development of the rights of minorities. Bilawal Bhutto, while addressing the Hindu community of Pakistan, said: “On this auspicious day, let us take a pledge that together we will defeat the darkness of hatred and division in Pakistan and will make it the centre of lights in the world by the lamps of prosperity and equality.Meanwhile, Sindh Governor Mohammed Kamran Khan Tessori, while congratulating the Hindu community on the festival of lights on Sunday, said that the Hindu community was playing a role in the development of the country.
Governor Tessori said that their role, especially in the fields of agriculture, industry, and medicine in the province, was significant.
He said that the minority communities in Pakistan had complete protection and the freedom to perform their religious rituals.
Moreover, Senior Vice President and Chief Organiser of PML-N Maryam Nawaz Sharif, while greeting the Hindu community on Sunday, said “Your happiness, peace, and development are very dear to us under the leadership of Nawaz Sharif”.
Protecting the rights of non-Muslim Pakistanis had always been a tradition of the PML-N, she added. This tradition would be carried forward with more spirit and in the light of the constitution. Non-Muslim Pakistanis will be given more opportunities in the decision-making and development process, she said.
Maryam said that the development of minorities was the strength of Pakistan, adding that “we pay tribute to the services of minorities for defence, security, and the development of the motherland”. Additional input from APP
