News Desk
Islamabad: Details have emerged regarding the tragic helicopter crash that claimed the life of Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi.
According to news agencies, Iranian official Gholam Hossein Esmaeili, who was aboard one of the three helicopters in the convoy, reported that the presidential helicopter’s pilot was leading the formation.
Esmaeili noted that the weather was clear when the helicopters took off. However, 45 minutes into the flight, the presidential pilot suggested ascending to avoid clouds.
Esmaeili recounted that 30 seconds later, their pilot realized the president’s helicopter had disappeared from view. Subsequently, their helicopter landed at a nearby copper mine.
Efforts to contact the president’s pilot, the foreign minister, and the president’s security detail were unsuccessful.
Esmaeili further explained that the Friday prayer leader, Al-Hashem, eventually answered a call and confirmed that the presidential helicopter had crashed.
Al-Hashem passed away several hours after the incident.
