Dengue Challenge Persists: Pindi District Records 2,163 Cases

Rawalpindi: The Rawalpindi district’s total tally has reached 2,163 confirmed cases with the arrival of 23 more cases during the last 24 hours.

District Coordinator of Epidemics Prevention and Control (DCEPC) Dr Sajjad Mehmood said that, among the new cases, 13 patients have arrived from the Potohar town urban area, six from the Municipal Corporation area, and two each from Chaklala Cantonment and Potohar rural.

Dengue fever cases have registered a sharp decrease in the city during the last two days with changing weather conditions. Eight patients were reported to the district health facilities on Sunday and 23 today, while during the last month the number of daily patients was between 40 and 60, further said Dr Sajjad.

Presently, 83 patients are admitted to the city’s allied hospitals, of which 59 are confirmed cases and 2,103 were discharged after treatment, informed Health Officer.

Dr Mehmood urged the residents to be careful during the wee hours and in the evening as that is a suitable time for mosquito bites.

Dr Sajjad told that the district administration has registered ten FIRs, issued tickets to 10, sealed three premises, and imposed a fine of Rs 194,000 against the violations of dengue SOPs during the last 24 hours. Additional input from APP.
