Dengue Cases Surge in Punjab, Health Authorities on Alert

Lahore: The Punjab Health Department has reported 61 new cases of dengue fever across the province in the last 24 hours, with Rawalpindi recording the highest number of cases at 48. Lahore, Attock, Chakwal, and Faisalabad also reported a significant number of cases.

The current week’s total has risen to 494 new cases, bringing the overall count of dengue cases in Punjab to 7,395 for the year 2024. In response, health authorities have assured the public that hospitals are well-equipped to manage the increase in cases. They have also emphasized the importance of maintaining hygiene, eliminating stagnant water, and cooperating with health teams working in high-risk areas.

To further assist the public, the Health Department has activated a helpline (1033) for inquiries and to address concerns related to dengue. Officials have called for enhanced public awareness and adherence to preventive measures to curb the rising trend of dengue fever.
