Delhi Quake Sent Tremors Through North India

New Delhi: A magnitude-6.2 earthquake rocked the Indian national capital New Delhi and neighbouring parts on Tuesday afternoon, with the epicentre in Nepal.

According to the National Center for Seismology of India, the earthquake occurred at 2:51 p.m. local time (1151 GMT).It is the second quake that sent tremors through north India. The states where the tremors were felt included Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand and the National Capital Region.

Earlier, an earthquake of magnitude 5.2 on the Richter scale struck the Indian northeastern state of Meghalayaon Monday, causing tremors in neighbouring states as well as Bangladesh’s capital Dhaka and some other parts of the country.

So far, there have been no reports of loss of life or damage to property due to the earthquake.
