News Desk
Khuzdar: A powerful explosion ripped through Khuzdar’s Nal tehsil on Wednesday, leaving at least five people dead and seven others injured. The blast, which occurred near a busy market, caused fires in nearby vehicles and motorcycles, spreading panic among residents.
According to police officials, the explosives were planted in a motorcycle and targeted tribal leader Abdul Samad Samalani, who sustained serious injuries. Among the deceased were Obaidullah, Munir Ahmed, and Nadir, while authorities are working to confirm the identities of the remaining victims.
Following the explosion, rescue teams and law enforcement agencies, including the police and Levies Force, swiftly reached the site, cordoned off the area, and launched an investigation. The injured were rushed to Khuzdar CMH and Teaching Hospital for urgent medical treatment.
Security in the region has been tightened as authorities assess the nature of the attack. Edhi sources confirmed the death toll has reached five, with concerns that the number of casualties may rise as several victims remain in critical condition.
No Group Claims Responsibility Yet
No group has claimed responsibility for the attack so far. The incident comes just a day after security forces successfully thwarted a terrorist assault on Bannu Cantonment, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) reported.
Recent Attack on Bannu Cantonment
On Tuesday, security forces eliminated 16 terrorists, including four suicide bombers, in a major counter-operation at Bannu Cantonment. However, the attack claimed the lives of five soldiers and 13 civilians, while 32 others sustained injuries.
According to ISPR, the terrorists attempted to breach the cantonment’s security by ramming two explosive-laden vehicles into its protective walls. Evidence suggests Afghan nationals were involved in the assault.
Authorities continue to investigate both incidents as security forces remain on high alert across the region.
