Daylight Surveillance, Nighttime Crime: A Disturbing Pattern in ICT

Islamabad: The Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Police have arrested the leader of an organized “Kabari Gang” along with two accomplices, recovering looted valuables worth more than Rs11.5 million, officials said on Tuesday.

According to police, the arrests were made by the Anti-Robbery and Dacoity Unit (ARDU) during a targeted operation against house theft suspects operating in different areas of the federal capital.

An official told APP that the gang, comprising previously recorded offenders, used to conduct reconnaissance of houses during the day before committing thefts at night. The suspects were wanted in multiple cases registered at Lohi Bher and Bani Gala police stations.

The arrested individuals were identified as Sudhir, Abdul Rehman, and Waheed Ullah.

Police recovered stolen items including Pakistani and foreign currency, gold ornaments, expensive watches, mobile phones, tablet devices, and weapons allegedly used in the crimes.

Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Islamabad Muhammad Jawad Tariq said that Islamabad Police are carrying out large-scale operations against organized and active criminal gangs.

He reiterated that the protection of citizens’ lives and property remains the foremost priority of Islamabad Police and vowed that efforts would continue to ensure a safe and secure environment in the capital.
